Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Poop on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have found numerous engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer includes a protagonist that is actually a piece of poop trying to navigate to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is simple: just use a one button to leap. Throughout 150 stages, encounter mini-bosses and visit a shop to purchase outfits for your fecal avatar.

Execute your jumps precisely, since one wrong move means beginning again. Leap using air pockets to hurl your character higher, navigate crumbling surfaces, and activate triggers to reveal hidden paths. Collect UN-KOINS to purchase more difficult levels in which the action ramps up.

Graphically, the experience features neon level designs and a killer soundtrack. Its minimalist visual style of morphing basic polygons evokes memories of fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though hard to name other games where you control a piece of feces, interactive entertainment have long included scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ feces as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content appears heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, such as taking top honors at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the final release set to arrive on Steam this November.
